Burrows strives to build quality assurance into all aspects of its manufacturing processes, starting with product development and qualification, right up to delivery of product to its customers. With ISO9001 providing the foundation for our quality system principles, the Burrows Quality System is a multi-dimensional program with three primary objectives:
- To make products that consistently meet customer specifications
- To see that plant personnel and operations comply with regulatory and safety requirements every day, every shift
- To respond quickly, objectively, and affirmatively to product performance issues identified by plant personnel or Burrows’ customers
Burrows’ facilities have control procedures in place to track customer-initiated changes. In-line controls allow us to monitor and measure product consistency and quality against customer specifications. Product recall procedures are in place and tested regularly.
All of Burrows’ packaging facilities are HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) certified and audited yearly to AIB (American Institute of Baking) standards. Its paper mills follow the same guidelines for HACCP and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) compliance.
In Europe, the Kerkrade packaging facility was the first plant on the continent to qualify for British Retail Consortium (BRC) packaging certification and has maintained that certification since 2005. BRC certification is recognized as the gold standard in Europe for food packaging quality.
Consistent quality of product is a critical success factor at Burrows. The Burrows program has repeatedly seen the most stringent on-site audits by some of the world’s biggest names in the Quick Service Restaurant industry, and has consistently registered top tier audit scores.
